somewhere between silence & screaming

Hi, I'm Whitney.

I'm 20-something, happily married, happily employed, and living in Florida with my husband and my dog.
I grew up in TN, and sometimes I miss it. I love laughter, chocolate, and Jesus.

Other than that, all you need to know is - this blog is my journey of discovering what it means to be made by God, for God, and how to live like the loved, called and chosen daughter of the King that He says I am.

As we drove from Prague to Cesky Krumlov today in Czech Republic, we passed some truly incredible views. As I pulled out my camera to capture them, I found myself getting increasingly frustrated at the senseless billboards and ugly buildings that kept getting in the way of uncorrupted God-made beauty. Two things hit me kind of at the same time:

1) I can’t even imagine how gorgeous earth was when it stood untainted by the consequences of human sin. It amazes me just how beautiful it is now even with its “groanings”. (http://mobile.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Romans%208:22&version=NIV)

2) As annoying as I find all of the manmade obstructions blocking God’s beautiful creation, how often do I do that on my own life? He does beautiful things in and with me, and yet I’m continuously covering that up with ugly, manmade sinful crap. Pride hit me the most here. We build all of these billboards and buildings because we think we have something more important to say or offer. Ridiculous. There is not a building I’ve seen on this trip or a selfish pleasure in my life that holds a candle to the Glory of God.

That is all. :)
